Fishing
The Goondiwindi region is a fishing haven, with a wide variety of fishing for you to enjoy. From the clear, rocky upper reaches of the Dumaresq River, to the muddy waters of the lower Macintyre River, creeks, lagoons and Coolmunda Dam, you will have plenty of options to weigh up. Golden Perch (Yellowbelly), Silver Perch, Eel-tailed Catfish and of course the famous Murray Cod can be found (and caught!) in our waters. Picturesque public and private areas for camping abound, so come for a weekend or come for a week, you won’t be disappointed.
Please note the times of closed seasons, weight and bag limits for each species and closed waters, such as above and below weirs. Please also be aware that rules can differ between Queensland and New South Wales, so always be sure to check with your local authority before you throw a line in.
All noxious and non-indigenous fish, such as Carp, Tilapia and Gambusia, when caught should be destroyed and must not be returned to the water.
